For the main cabin of a downed alien ship, we designed and fabricated over 150 unique spikes, featuring approximately 40 variations. These ranged in size from towering 4-meter spikes to smaller, hanging pieces under 30 cm.
My responsibilities included:
Collaboration: Worked closely with the art department to align designs with the creative vision.
File Preparation: Used Rhino, Grasshopper, and Slicer to create and finalize digital models for CNC fabrication.
Fabrication: Programmed and supervised the CNC cutting process to ensure precision and quality.
Construction Oversight: Supervised the assembly and sculpting process for the spikes, ensuring they met aesthetic and structural requirements.
On-Set Installation: Led the final installation of the spikes on set, ensuring seamless integration with the production environment.
Bridgeway and Metalwork Supervision: Supervised and created technical drawings for the construction and assembly of the bridgeway, the superstructure supporting the overlooking tower, and the giant reflectors, overseeing all metalwork and engineering aspects.
